values

What do you care about?
What do you want in your life?
Where do you want to put your energy & attention?
Our values help us make choices about what we commit to in our lives. If you commit time and energy to something that violates or neglects one of your core values, you will start to feel resentful, or frustrated, or perhaps have just a persistent niggling that something is off.

If you’re not honouring your values when you make choices about activities and relationships, you will get a sense that something is missing or wrong in your life.

For our purposes then, your values mean the qualities that define you, that are at the core of who you are. Values describe what is important to you. Without them, you would not be you.

Knowing our core values is very worthwhile, but they’re not always easy to identify! The exercise below will help with this. Allow yourself 30-40 minutes of undisturbed time.

Don't worry about ‘getting it right'; and capturing all your values in one go, but rather think of this as a work in progress.

Oh, and you may also find that you can't express certain values in one word; that's fine - use whatever words, phrases, or sentences that come to you.
