EFT choices protocol

Attrb. the late Patricia Carrington. PhD.

After checking the original SUDS (subjective units of distress) rating - (1-10)

A. Identify the negative thought, attitude, or feeling. Give it a 'name and address'; i.e name the emotion, or colour, etc - and notice where in your body it is, and acknowledge anything else you notice - e.g movement, shape, rhythm, etc

B. Formulate a choice that is roughly the opposite of the negative.

C. Link A and B with the words "I choose to" - and use this A - C - B sequence as your set-up statement, x 3 times with karate chop point.

Formulate/write down in your book - the set-up carefully using these rules:

  • Be Specific about what it is you want - don't use vague comparisons (e.g do not use the word 'better')
  • Create a pulling choice - you need to sell this to yourself
  • Go for the best possible outcome - go for what you really want, not what you 'ought, should, need' ..
  • Do not choose for others - guard against trying to manipulate others
  • State your choice in the positive - avoid all negative words and phrases
  • Ensure your words are pronounceable!

You're now ready to do the Choices Trio:

1. Do one complete round of the negative reminder phrases.  (-ve)

2. Follow immediately with another complete round of your choice reminder phrases. (+ve)

3. Follow immediately by one complete round of EFT using alternating phrases as follows: (alternate, starting on -ve at eyebrow, and finishing on +ve - on collar bone)

Inner eyebrow - negative
Outer eye - positive
Under eye - negative, and so on until you end, collar bone with a positive.

ALWAYS END YOUR LAST ALTERTANTING ROUND ON A POSITIVE!

Check the SUDS 1-10, and do further choices trio rounds as necessary.
