Nlp is built around what are known as presuppositions:
Nobody claims these statements to be ‘true’ .. – only that if you act as if they are they’re certainly useful!
They often first appear radical, and even outrageous; and need further explanation. You’ll recognise others as being in the ‘mainstream’ having been taken from common understandings.
The map is not the territory .
Communication is both verbal and non-verbal, both conscious and unconscious.
You cannot not communicate
The meaning of your communication is in the response you get.
There is no failure, only feedback.
Every experience can be used.
Individuals process all information through their five senses.
Recognising responses requires clean, sensory channels.
Behaviour is the highest quality information.
If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always gotten.
You are not your behaviour.
Every behaviour is useful in one context.
Behind every behaviour is a positive intention.
Your current behaviour is the best choice possible for you at this time.
If what you are doing isn’t working, do something different!
Mind and body are one integrated system.
Modelling excellence leads to excellence.
Individuals with the most flexibility have the highest probability of achieving the responses they desire.
People already have all the resources they need. What they need more is access to these resources at appropriate times and places.
It is easier to change yourself than others.
Choice is better than no choice.
People are doing the best they can, given the choices they believe are available to them – but there are lots of other choices that they are not aware of.
